Matthew Adams

Director, Clinical Data Science at ICON PLC

Matthew Adams is a data management leader with over 17 years of experience in the CRO industry, working across a wide range of therapeutic areas and partnership models. Throughout his career, he has focused on driving innovation, developing efficient processes, and supporting global teams in a rapidly evolving clinical research environment.

He has extensive experience in establishing and optimizing partnership frameworks, including the development of global processes, project instructions, metric‑driven analytical visualizations, and best‑practice guidance for Data Management and Data Science teams. In his current role as Director of Clinical Data Science, Matthew is responsible for portfolio and account team leadership, process development, and advancing new initiatives across Clinical Data Science systems, tools, and analytics. A key area of focus is supporting teams and clients as they integrate and adapt to emerging AI‑driven approaches within clinical research.

Matthew holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Analytical Science from Sheffield Hallam University, UK.
