With over 20 years of industry experience, I have a passion for this industry and the data within it. Rising through the biotech industry across CRO, Medical Device, and small and large Biotech has been extremely rewarding and exciting. Now as the Co-Founder of Better Clinical Trial (BCT) I am constantly seeking out new innovations and how to apply them to everyday functions and tasks – while maintaining the human element of what we do to ensure there is always a way to keep us all connected.

Alicia Staley serves as vice president of Patient Engagement at Medidata. She oversees the Patient Insights Program and the Patient Insights Board. She works to infuse the patient perspective throughout the product development lifecycle and help engage patients in novel ways. She created Patient Centricity by Design (PCbD) in 2018 as a way to provide structure and governance for developing patient-centric technical solutions.

Alicia has over 20 years of experience in software design and information systems management.  She is also a three-time cancer survivor, first diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease as a sophomore during college. With an extensive network of patient advocates and non-profit organizations, she collaborates with a wide range of stakeholders to help improve processes and policies that impact cancer care.

As a champion of patient advocacy and engagement, she understands the critical issues facing patients seeking to engage in clinical research.

I’m a blind optimist, serial entrepreneur and I lead by example. I believe that company culture eats strategy for breakfast. I have more than 20x years’ experience in ideating, building, growing (and sometimes breaking) companies – a failure/crisis is never wasted. My passion revolves around digitising the clinical research and public health space surrounded/supported by the gifted colleagues around me which I call my friends. Our mission is to make a positive impact in the world of clinical research, and help inspire others to join the cause!
